Author Biography

  • Kathleen Coker, University College Cork

PhD candidate in Musicology at University College Cork. Her doctoral research, supported by Taighde Éireann (Research Ireland) under the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, utilises mixed methodologies from musicology and ethnomusicology to explore exported narratives of proprietorship and power dynamics related to American musics. Her current focus investigates how such entrenched narratives interact with aspects of embodied performance practice throughout the bluegrass music community in Ireland.
