Call for Cover Images
Aigne is hosting a competition in search of a cover image for our next issue, which explores the theme of “Response: Reflection and Action". A response is both an engagement and a reflection, followed by an action that confronts a question, situation, challenge or opportunity. The concept of response, and the act of responding, takes on new significance in our own contemporary moment, as the ‘self’ is subjected to unprecedented connectivity and an overload of information. The shape of a response may be automatic or unconscious, a simple reaction to stimulus, or it can be more contemplative. Responses can agree and reinforce, challenge and deconstruct, as well as modify, remould, and extend that which they reflect on. Spanning from the personal to the universal, they entwine with politics, ecology, culture, aesthetics, and beyond.
Entrants whose work explores, comments on, depicts or somehow connects with this theme will be strongly favoured. Individuals may enter up to three images, and each entry should be accompanied by a short (max. 100 words) description of the image.
The winning image will appear on the front cover and the entrant whose image wins the competition will also be featured in the journal's creative section. Additional selected entries may also be published in the creative section.
