Response: Reflection and Action
A response is both an engagement and a reflection, followed by an action that confronts a question, situation, challenge or opportunity The concept of response, and the act of responding, takes on new significance in our own contemporary moment, as the ‘self’ is subjected to unprecedented connectivity and an overload of information. The shape of a response may be automatic or unconscious, a simple reaction to stimulus, or it can be more contemplative. Responses can agree and reinforce, challenge and deconstruct, as well as modify, remould, and extend that which they reflect on. Spanning from the personal to the universal, they entwine with politics, ecology, culture, aesthetics, and beyond.
For the upcoming issue of Aigne we encourage critical and scholarly explorations on this theme of Response: Reflection and Action. We invite submissions from across the arts, humanities, and social sciences which engage in imaginative ways with the theme, welcoming diverse and inventive interpretations of this multifaceted concept.
